I haven’t commuted to work in over 5 years.

There was a time when I worked just around the corner from our house. I could walk to the office in about five minutes with my coffee mug in hand, basking in the warm Summer sunshine or crunching Autumnal leaves beneath my feet.

Admittedly, it was nice.

Then we moved, and my walking commute turned into a drive.

Not a hugely long one, mind you. But because I worked in the morning and then again in the evening (ah, the life of a youth worker), I often had to make the journey from home to work twice per day, several days a week.

That got old after a while.

Now, I don’t commute anywhere (unless you count rolling out of bed and going downstairs to my desk). And I absolutely couldn’t go back to a job that involved driving to a place of work.

Or one where I had to work for someone else.
