My wife and I were out walking the dogs in our local forest park when she dropped that little pearl of wisdom.
Coaching? Me? Seriously?

“Yeah, you should do it,” Christine said, all nonchalance on that lovely summer day. “Just tell people what you already know. You’ll help them.”
In fairness, I had considered coaching before (some of my favourite online creators are big into it). I’d coached some business owners over Zoom but never in an official capacity.
It didn’t seem like a genuine possibility until that moment.
I could be a coach, couldn’t I? I don’t know everything about the industries I’m part of (does anyone?), but I’ve learned a lot of things most people haven’t even considered. So why not help them?
The seed was planted that day. But the first shoots only broke the surface in recent weeks.
Hello, little saplings
First, someone responded to one of several posts I chucked out into the social media ether. Just one person. But it was enough to spark the whole thing into life.
And by “the whole thing” I mean a brand new income stream.
(I love income streams, by the way)
That one person became two, and the calls I had with them were loads of fun. Turns out, coaching’s pretty easy when you’re passionate about the topic in question.
Those initial calls were free, but by doing them, I proved to myself that I could coach people. That I could help them solve problems.
Which led to phase two: expansion.
And that’s when my eyes were really opened to a simple, yet surprising, aspect of human nature.
