7 minimalist side hustles you can start right now.

Hi there! 👋 My name’s David - I’m a writer and solopreneur from Northern Ireland. In this publication, you’ll find a growing archive of resources (created by myself and a collection of valued guests) for those hoping to become - or grow as - solopreneurs. I've tried dozens and dozens of side hustles, almost all of them as a solopreneur (I partnered on one of them once, disaster!).
Some were great, some not so much.
It was only once I embraced the Minimalist versions of certain side hustles that I saw my success compound.
Fed up with bloated side hustles and wasting time, I founded Minimalist Hustler, and went on the search for what I called "Minimalist Side Hustles".
Essentially, these would be side hustles that were quick, easy, and cheap to launch and run. And not only that, but they would be enjoyable too!
Ever since I put enjoyment ahead of profit, I've been more successful, it may sound cheesy, but if you enjoy it, you'll be much more likely to stick with it long enough to succeed.
After quite a bit of trial and error, I settled on these 7 minimalist side hustles:
Blogging on Medium
Email Marketing
Print on Demand
Self Publishing
Sell Printables
Sell Templates
Write a Newsletter
I created 7 quickstart guides to offer as lead magnets to help people do what I had done with each one of them and eventually moved those guides into a free Notion-based toolbox with even more resources for each one.
As a solopreneur, you could pick any one of those and start it today with little to no investment and start making money almost right away.
Life was good, and I could've probably stopped there, but I realized that I could simplify the process and make it even more "minimalist".
So I started working on that and then realized that if you built a newsletter, you could leverage that to monetize the other side hustles.
You could go even beyond that and monetize your newsletter in many different ways, over and over again.
With the audience you grow through your newsletter, you'll always have people there to support you and everything that you do.
Your audience won't only make you more money, but they will help you make better decisions on which products to launch, and how to improve those products.
So while you can pick and succeed at any of the minimalist side hustles I mentioned above, picking a newsletter will give you the most bang for your buck, it is the ultimate minimalist side hustle for a solopreneur like you (and I)!

Print on Demand may sound minimalist, but as a content creator I can speak from experience, and it is not as easy or as minimalist as one would imagine. A lot of time needs to be invested in the right photography to start with. Using AI to generate masses of awful content is also not cool, and generally people don't really buy that c**p...
Nice and easy to read article. I have thought and looked into medium however I have not committed to it, yet..
